Are you currently accepting new patients?

Yes, Skillman Family Dentistry is currently accepting new patients of all ages, including children, adults, and seniors. Dr. Henry is able to help someone enjoy a bright and confident smile no matter their age or situation, and he’s eager to welcome you into our growing dental family.

How often should I go to the dentist?

The American Dental Association recommends that everyone visit the dentist for a checkup and cleaning at least twice a year. Because most dental problems develop very slowly, this is often enough that it allows our team to find potential issues and fix them before they become serious.

Do I really need to floss?

Yes, despite what you may have seen in the news, every dental professional will tell you that flossing should be an essential part of your oral hygiene routine. When you don’t floss, you leave about 40% of your teeth’s surface area uncleaned, which drastically increases your risk of bad breath, cavities, gum disease, and more.

What type of toothbrush should I use?

If a toothbrush has the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval, then you’re good to go. Ideally, it should be a soft-bristled brush because hard bristles can actually damage the enamel. Otherwise, as long as you use the brush consistently (at least twice a day), it doesn’t matter if it’s manual, electric, or has cartoon characters on it!

Will you take my dental insurance?

More than likely yes, as Skillman Family Dentistry is in-network with many PPO dental insurance plans. Just give us a call with your membership information nearby, and we’ll verify your benefits so that when you come to see us, you won’t get a bill at the end of your appointment.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Yes, we accept Medicaid and CHIP, and we’re also willing to file the claims ourselves to make the process easier on our patients. Please call us ahead of your appointment so we can give you instant access to your savings using your plan.
